I cannot say enough good things about Frenchside ! We were planning a two-week trip to Europe and the week in France was proving difficult for me to plan on my own. Having someone in France who knew great little boutique hotels for us to stay made the experience amazing! We had wonderful guides that met us and took us through the D-day beaches, Bayeux tapestry, Calvados and cheese tasting, cathedrals, castles, and then onto hiking on the Brittany coast. His family is very old and established.  He kept two young boys absolutely enthralled.  We got to design our own perfume with a diamond etched name on the bottle.  Mine was: Paris 2021, not quite Chanel No. 5!; my one son named his “La Jolla!”  My husband:  “Versailles 21!”

Patrick Gaudin was a wonderful guide to a day in Provence for the four of us in April 2022. He picked us up in a minivan at our cruise ship and drove us to Aix-in-Provence, where he walked us through this most interesting city and told us interesting human and historical points, bringing us into stores and a cathedral and giving us a connection to the people we couldn’t have found on our own. He was very interactive, charming, and funny; he spoke English idiomatically well and with minimal accent. He drove us to Cassis for a lovely lunch and walk in a beautiful seaside community. He even took us to the top of a tall hill with exceptional vistas of surrounding hills and the multicolored Mediterranean and beautiful beach views. He finished by taking us on a scenic route back into Marseille while asking us our impressions of the city before we came to France. We had a lively conversation about our preconceptions about crime and lack of interesting places to visit. We left feeling that we needed to include it on a later and longer trip back to the south of France. A wonderful and intelligent man who helped give us a magical day!

…Le Hauts was amazing – so relaxing and comfortable. Also, the homemade dinner at Les Hauts was an absolute a must! Our hostess Stephane is an amazing cook and was also a very nice conversationalist…. I’d definitely recommend these 2 places to others!

The tour guides were also fantastic both in Nice and at especially at Versailles (I wish we’d had even more time at Versailles with our guide – we learned sooo much and his historical stories brought the place to life!). The private drivers were also great (prompt, polite and helpful). Also, thank you for including the audioguides at many of the museums… They were fantastic, especially at the Louvre (we used them until the batteries ran out and wished for more)!

All in all, this was exactly the trip we’d hoped for!
