Day 4: Tours - Amboise

Private Transfer from the Train Station to your Accommodation

A chauffeur will meet you for a private transfer between the Tours train station and your accommodation in Amboise.

Suggestion: Visit Amboise, the Royal City

An old, long stone bridge overlooking the romantic Loire River leads into the idyllic royal city of Amboise.

Elegant Amboise, the childhood home of Charles VIII and final resting place of the incomparable Leonardo da Vinci, is gorgeously situated on the southern bank of the Loire, guarded by a soaring château.

Go for a stroll through Amboise or along the lovely riverbank after seeing the château. The town has well-preserved Renaissance architecture and half-timbered townhouses dating back to the 15th century. Amboise is also the location of Leonardo da Vinci’s last home, the Château du Clos Lucé.

You may want to take a relaxing break on one of the many café terraces and soak up the beauty or dine in a gastronomic restaurant.

The Farmers Markets offer a large choice of products and local specialties.

Amboise is a convivial base for exploring the Loire countryside and nearby châteaux.

Day 5: Amboise

Full-Day Private Driving Tour to Château de Chenonceau, Amboise with a Wine Tasting

Experience the Chenonceau and Amboise area with a licensed driver-guide in a Mercedes Class V or Renault Espace Initiale.

Your first stop is for a guided visit to Chenonceau. The château’s unique architecture makes it one of the Loire Valley’s most memorable castles and one of France’s most-visited sites. It spans the Cher River and is nicknamed the Château des Dames or the Women’s Castle for two powerful women who once lived there, Catherine de Médicis and Diane de Poitiers. The magnificent Renaissance gardens are not to be missed.

You can enjoy lunch in front of the Château de Amboise.

After lunch, discover the Royal Château of Amboise. The day’s final stop is at a winery to sample Vouvray’s sparkling wines.

Day 6: Amboise

Chinon Vineyards & Villandry Gardens Full-Day Private Driving Tour

Experience Chinon vineyards & Villandry gardens with your licensed driver-guide in a Mercedes Class V or Renault Espace Initiale.

On the way to the historic city of Chinon, where wine is beloved and cherished, discover a 20-hectare (49 acres) family vineyard of the Chinon appellation. From a long line of winemakers dating back to the 15th century, this family chose sustainable viticulture: the HVE label (High Environmental Value with a Preservation of Biodiversity). The winemakers will introduce you to the variety of “terroirs” of the appellation through the different vintages they produce each year.

When it is time for lunch, you will take a break in the old medieval town and discover the fortress of Chinon – well known for hosting Joan of Arc as well as other historical events. After your meal (not included), you will be en route to another domain where the philosophy is to provide wines of high quality, representative of, and faithful to, the origins of the winemakers. To end the day, we will discover the beautiful gardens of Villandry château, where the four seasons fashion the landscape.

Your licensed driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel and will drop you off at the hotel after the tour.

Day 7: Chaumont-sur-Loire - Amboise

Private River Cruise on a Traditional French Barge

Departing from Chaumont-sur-Loire, this is an ideal way to cruise the Loire Valley.

The traditional “toue” boat has changed little for centuries. A large rowing boat (33 feet or 10 meters long) with a flat base, it is fitted with a mast and a square sail making it ideal for navigating the Loire’s sandbanks.

Please note that the itinerary may change depending on the passenger’s interests, season, and environmental preservation. Each tour is an invitation to new experiences and unexpected encounters. It is the Loire that gets to decide!
