Day 3: Épernay

Full-Day Custom Private Tour

Private Walking tour in Epernay

Walkthrough the streets of Epernay, discovering the scenery. Epernay and its beautifully preserved 19th-century heritage are inseparable from the history of Champagne. Your guide will lead you through the city to meet the most important monuments including the town hall, the Gabriel Dorziat Theater, the Notre Dame Church, and Champagne Avenue.

Private Guided Tour of a Historical Champagne Winery

In 1927 Charlotte’s ancestors bought the Domain of Boursault, formerly owned by Madame (Veuve) Clicquot. In 1843, 10 kilometers west of Epernay, she built a magnificent neo-renaissance-style castle. The mansion quickly became one of the most popular places in the region. Memorable dinners took place at the court of the “Queen of Reims.” Champagne flowed lavishly among the members of the local high society.

Many generations have passed. Charlotte still runs a part of the domain: seven plots in the exclusive familial clos, overlooking the Marne Valley. Press, cellars, and the winery are located in the clos too, only a few hundred meters away. It guarantees superior fruit freshness when it comes to being pressed and transformed.

During this tour, you will discover the Champagne production process, from the vine to the flute. Visit the modern press, the vat room, and the aging cellars underneath the 16th-century family manor. Stroll in the heart of the vineyard and learn more about traditional growing, harvesting, and wine-making methods. After the tour, you will be able to taste three Champagnes on the Terrasse des Abbayes, offering a panoramic view of the Marne Valley and the Château de Boursault.

The legendary Moët & Chandon is arguably the world most loved champagne. Since 1743, the renowned French winemaker has been sharing the magic of champagne across the globe. Toward the end of the eighteenth century, Jean-Remy Moët, grandson of founder Claude Moët, became famous as the man who introduced champagne to the world. Moët & Chandon was soon the icon of success and elegance that it remains to this day.

Enter the heart of the Champagne House and embark on a journey in the myriad of underground galleries where the bubbles come to life. Be it your first experience or rediscovering, the Moët Impérial, created in 1869, will lead you into the world of Moët & Chandon’s unique style.
