Suggestion: International Garden Festival at the Château de Chaumont sur Loire

The Château de Chaumont sur Loire started as a 11th -century fortress to protect the border between Blois and Anjou. Charles II of Amboise transformed it into the Renaissance-style château seen today. It later passed through the hands of Catherine de’ Medici and Diane de Poitiers. It’s known as much for its interior as for its opulent gardens.

Since 1992, the château has hosted the International Garden Festival, a laboratory for contemporary garden and landscape design. Both a source of ideas and a breeding ground for talent, the Festival revitalizes garden art and engages the public and the profession by presenting new flowers, new materials, ideas, and innovative approaches.

From a long line of winemakers dating back to the 15th century, this family chose to turn to sustainable viticulture: HVE label (High Environmental Value with a Preservation of Biodiversity). The winemakers will present you to the variety of “terroirs” of the appellation through the different vintages they produce each year.

At lunchtime: break in the old medieval town and discover the fortress of Chinon, known for Joan of Arc among other things

After your meal, you will be en route to another area where the philosophy is to provide wines of high expression, representative of and faithful to the place where these winemakers are born.
